It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the chance.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her bow and seven world titles have come from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fail again.

If this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because it seemed I lacked timing at all," stated Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive nature activate and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was removed Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the confidence to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last rival teams at this championship should hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory following win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a significant event.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing through the pain.

But while she later admitted those physical issues have postponed plans to retire, this tournament is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as leader.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
